My Carbon Footprint

I'm horrible! After completing the fun little carbon Footprint game, I realized it would take 5.7 Earths to provide enough resources if everyone lives like me, and I release 29.5 tons of carbon dioxide. That's a lot! After seeing this, I decided to cut back on a lot of things that caused my Earth consumption and carbon dioxide releasing to sky rocket. Now it would only take 4.3 Earths and as a whole, we'd release 21 tons of carbon dioxide.

24 Hour, No Technology

Wow, so no technology for 24 hours... I managed to survive this homework assignment, but only because it just so happens the day I chose to put this "no technology for 24 hours" into effect, I already had a day full of events planned ahead for me. I realized how much I really do use and depend on technology. since I started in the morning it was really hard to go the whole the day without checking my emails, texting friends about lunch, or even watching TV. After this experiment, I've come to the conclusion that there are positive things to technology as well as negative. Having technology is wonderful and great as it allows you to do numerous things while you're away but, the negative side is that you get drawn into a word of dependence and when you don't have that little peice of technology, you go crazy or feel left out of the loop.

Possible Challenge

Generally, there are a lot of challenges we encounter daily, let alone encounter over the course of four years. But, one challenge that is perhaps over looked daily is global warming. Global warming is by far our most lingering challenge as it has already disrupted numerous amounts of lives daily in the forms of loss of habitat and destructive weather patterns. If we DO NOT cut back on our GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions, then possibly hundreds of millions of people may be exposed to water shortages, to famine, extreme weather conditions and a 20 - 30% loss of animal and plant species, which is dire. I believe some ways we could cut back on our GHG emissions are to choose energy-efficient appliances, maybe carpool a little more, and plant a tree!
